The fourth issue of CGC Online Papers, Die Schwarze Botin — Frauenhefte. Radikal — Provokant — Aktuell, presents a series of current readings of Die Schwarze Botin, published 1976-1987. The Berlin women's magazine sees itself in opposition to its contemporaries EMMA and Courage and has no interest in a New Femininity. It seeks critical thinking and debate and does not shy away from contradiction. The contributions collected here deal with the place of the Schwarze Botin in the feminist public sphere and debate of its time, its text and image practice, and its approach to fashion.
The authors - Elisabeth Flucher, Elke Gaugele, Franziska Haug, Carola Hilmes, Gudrun Jäger, Ursula Krechel, Katharina Lux, Alina Sabransky, Sina Speit, Carolin Walberer, and Ulla Wischermann - present their latest research and findings in the CGC online papers, which have been published at irregular intervals since 2017 and aim to provide a forum for interdisciplinary food for thought.
