Application
The application for the BA minor in Gender Studies is done via the central application portal of Goethe University. You must complete the online application form within the application deadline. Admission to the program is only possible for the winter semester, so you can apply from June 1 (application start date) until the application deadline on July 15 each year. On the pages of the SSC (Study Service Center) you can find out everything about the application process. Please have your university entrance qualification certificate (usually your Abitur certificate) ready when completing the online application. At the end of the online application, you will receive an application form, which you must sign and submit to the Registrar's Office at Goethe University. If you have received a letter of admission, you will find all information about enrollment (matriculation) there.
Note: Since the Gender Studies program can only be studied as a minor, you still need a major subject in order to apply and enroll at Goethe University. You can search for a suitable combination of subjects on the pages of the Study Service Center on the central range of courses (all courses that have the addition "major with a minor" in the description are eligible).
What is a Numerus Clausus (NC)?
The Bachelor Minor in Gender Studies in Frankfurt is admission restricted, which means that there is a numerus clausus (NC) every semester. The NC results from the competition of applicants for the available study places and is determined anew every semester. The more interested students want to study a subject and the smaller the number of available study places, the higher the NC. In order to be able to study Gender Studies as a minor subject in Frankfurt, you must apply with the average grade of your university entrance qualification (Abinote). With the NC, however, there are no predetermined minimum grades or minimum waiting periods. Both are determined anew each semester on the basis of the number of applications. Results of previous procedures can only give an orientation. This and more information on the NC can be found on the pages of the Study Service Center (SSC).
