The Friends of the Cornelia Goethe Center (CGC) at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main see women's and gender studies as an indispensable part of science and politics, with the aim of achieving greater gender equality. For this reason, we specifically support the Cornelia Goethe Centrum, whose namesake is the sister of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
We provide financial support for selected CGC projects and events, as well as for the visiting professorship named after Angela Davis. In order to further promote awareness of the CGC, we support public relations work.
The Cornelia Goethe Award, which is awarded for outstanding scientific work by young scholars, is of particular importance to our sponsorship group. The awarding of the Cornelia Goethe Award and the sponsorship of the visiting professorship usually alternate. An annual award ceremony is also possible. The Cornelia Goethe Salon on the occasion of Cornelia Goethe's birthday on December 7th provides the festive framework for this.
Members of the Förderkreis are invited to conferences/events and lecture series of the CGC and can inform themselves about the current state of women's and gender studies. The general meeting of the Förderkreis offers the opportunity to contribute own ideas and to network.
We want to attract more people and institutions to support the CGC financially and ideally in order to be able to support more projects and to expand the connection between the university and urban society.
