Susanne Heeg is professor of urban geography at the Institute of Human Geography (Department of Geosciences/Geography) at the Goethe-University. Her main research focus lies on cities as centres of social struggle and nodes for global dynamics. She looks into processes contributing to the importance of cities and urban regions in a global age as well as on dynamics within cities and metropolitan regions.
In particular she is focused on how cities are built and governed. What are the effects of the liberalization of financial and property markets on the built environment in cities? What does the neoliberal reorganization of cities mean for ways of working and living in cities?
Another research focus is on „The Re-Ordering of the Urban in the Age of Neoliberalism”. See www.neuordnungen.info
