Josefine Hetterich completed her Bachelor's degree in Theatre, Film and Media Studies and Sociology at Goethe University Frankfurt. She completed her Master's degree in ‘Gender, Media and Culture’ at Goldsmiths College, London. Before joining the graduate school ‘Configurations of Film’, she was a research assistant in film studies at the Institute for Theatre, Film and Media Studies at Goethe University from 2018-2023, where she taught feminist theory, queer cinema, archival theories and AIDS video activism. She also curated and organised the international conference ‘Jean Carlomusto Made Me Queer: Video Activism, Queer Archives and AIDS Crisis Revisitation’ (2022), as well as several queer film series in Frankfurt. She is a doctoral scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation and is currently part of the speaker collective of the ‘Gender/Queer Studies’ working group of the Society for Media Studies.
