Prof. Dr. Sarah Speck is a professor of sociology with a focus on women's and gender studies. Previously, she researched and taught in Hamburg, Berlin, Darmstadt, Tübingen and Osnabrück. She is a member of the faculty and deputy director of the Institute for Social Research and a member of the graduate programs "Dialectics of Participation" and "Doing Transitions. Together with Bettina Kleiner, she also directs the Cornelia Goethe Center. Her research interests lie u.a. in the area of the contradictory change of gender relations, social reproduction in contemporary capitalism as well as transnational (queer)feminist and other social movements. She has published on critical and feminist theories of society, the political economy of couple relations, gender/socialization and education, new masculinities, care and motherhood.
