Prof. Dr. Drita Memeti is an Associate Professor of Sociology at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Tetovo, North Macedonia. With over 18 years of experience in teaching and research, her work focuses on political sociology, democracy, and gender equality, with particular attention to women's migration, gender-based violence, and the political participation of women in the Western Balkans.
She is the founder and former Executive Director of the NGO "Women in Science Network", which fosters collaboration among women researchers across North Macedonia and the wider region. She is the author of Political Communication and Social Networks in the Age of the Information Society in the Republic of North Macedonia (2022) and has published widely on gender, migration, and political communication in international journals and edited volumes. Alongside her academic work, she has coordinated numerous EU-funded projects on gender equality, women's empowerment, and reversing brain drain through scientific diaspora engagement in the Western Balkans.
During her research sabbatical at the Cornelia Goethe Center from 1 October 2026 to 1 July 2027, she will pursue her project "Gendered Migration from North Macedonia: Women's Mobility, Integration, and Social Change in Germany," which examines migration, gender, integration processes, and social inequalities among Macedonian women in Germany.
