Ezgi Güler is a social scientist working on gender and sexuality, urban marginality and politics, migration and borders, and ethnography and qualitative research methods. Her interdisciplinary research broadly examines lived experiences and struggles at the margins in relation to state policies, urban governance, and public discourses, with a particular focus on Turkey.
She received her PhD from the European University Institute. She has held an Adjunct Lectureship at TU Darmstadt and a postdoctoral position at Sabancı University in Istanbul, and most recently was a Junior Fellow at the University of Bayreuth’s Centre of International Excellence “Alexander von Humboldt.” Her work has appeared in the ANNALS of the American Academy of Political and Social Science and the Journal of Middle East Women’s Studies, as well as in edited volumes.
At the Cornelia Goethe Center, she will continue her writing projects on the collective struggles of transfeminine sex workers in contemporary Turkey.
