Isadora Campregher Paiva received her BA in International Relations and MA in Sociology with a focus on Gender Studies from Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Her interest in film studies developed from a sociological and feminist standpoint, leading her to witee her Master thesis about the changes in the hegemonic masculinities represented in British and German interwar cinema. She followed that with the International Master in Audiovisual and Cinema Studies (IMACS) based at the Goethe University, with exchange semesters at the University of Liège (Belgium) and University of Amsterdam (Netherlands). She is currently a research associate in the project “Digital CinemaHub”, which unites the universities of Marburg, Mainz and Frankfurt to develop and apply digital methods to the study and teaching of film. Her own research focuses on the breaks and continuities in the history of vertical integration in the American film industry.
