The Bertha Pappenheim Lecture on Gender and Judaism deals with topics of Jewish history, culture, and religion against the background of gender and sexuality. In the inaugural lecture, Elizabeth Loentz, Associate Professor and Associate Director of the School of Literatures, Cultural Studies and Linguistics at the University of Illinois Chicago, USA, will introduce the life and work of Bertha Pappenheim and pay special attention to the role of affect and emotion in her activism.
