The Cornelia Goethe Center established the Angela Davis Guest Professorship for International Gender and Diversity Studies in 2013. Following Angela Davis, who gave the professorship its name, the internationally renowned scholars Chandra Talpade Mohanty (2015), Amina Mama (2018) and Ann Phoenix (2021) have held the visiting professorship.
We are delighted to have appointed the internationally renowned artist, curator and theorist Grada Kilomba to the Guest Professorship in 2024. In her guest professorship, Kilomba will focus on the ‘art of performing knowledge’. The focus will be on questions such as: What stories are told? How are they told? Where are they told? And by whom are they told? Knowledge production, memory and forgetting, rituals and the role of (public) art are important points of reference.
The events of the guest professorship can be found here. Most events are open to all everyone.
