In 2013 the Cornelia Goethe Center established the Angela Davis Guest Professorship for International Gender and Diversity Studies. Its primary objective is the promotion of international and interdisciplinary cooperation in the field of Gender and Diversity Studies. Every two years an internationally renowned scholar holds the chair for about two weeks. Angela Davis, after whom the chair is named, was the first to occupy the position. In December 2015 the postcolonial and transnational feminist theorist and activist Prof. Chandra Talpade Mohanty (Syracuse University) was welcomed as the second holder of the chair.
